The season has come to a close. This past weekend the WIAA State Championships were held in LaCrosse. Friday was a battle of attrition, as temps in the mid-90s (and a heat index that reached 114 degrees!) meant that water and Gatorade in massive quantities was needed just to keep athletes in one piece. Saturday brought temps in the low 80s and a break from the humidity, and the performances on the track were simply outstanding. The Vikings had three placewinners in the meet: Taylor Corkum (5th); Ryan George (7th); and the 400 relay of Ambria Avery, Sara Hirschmann, Erica Hallmann, and Hannah Kren (7th).
